Its hot in Chicago and its not just me!

amidst a little bit of a chicago heat wave, on my morning latte run i encountered this silly looking pigeon lounging in this sprinkler. as funny as it looks, he is quite possibly the smartest pigeon i have ever encountered.....
i even briefly considered joining him, but it might have ruined my stunning ginger hair style!

in order to survive this wicked hot weekend, gingerfoxxx decided to try some new watering holes to cool her hottt self down!

first on the tour was Fizz bar in chicago, at the corner of lincoln, ashland, and belmont.

this place is by no means new, but it was new to me. we had spent the evening lounging outdoors, drinking and watching the fireworks, and decided to stop by here to visit a friend celebrating his birthday. They serve food up until midnight, and they have a really charming beer garden. i sampled some pizza and was pretty pleased. the downside is that the beer garden closes at midnight, however they did let us stay out there and finish dining. (that might just be because i'm awesome. dont expect that treatment for everyone.) the inside was nice enough, but the crowd was a little strange. most of the people there were in their late 30's if not early 40's. (especially the guys, it was like a sea of bald patches)

Check out fizz early for a bite to eat and to chill outside, but i would leave early for a trendier spot, and dont expect to pick up a guy under 35.

Next stop was angels and mariachis on division. people have been raving so i had to check it out.

on the hoppin division strip, i figured that at 1am, this place would be fierce on a saturday night.

but it was awkwardly slow. i think i actually heard a pin drop. and became excited that someone else might actually be there. we got a pitcher of margaritas, but was a little disappointed to find it was 80% ice. i was a little confused because the decor is amazing, and i love the look of the place, but i guess watered down margaritas are not what the people crave. i might go back earlier sometime and try the food. maybe its better as a resteraunt? or a hiding place?

come back (maybe) for the food (so i hear)
or if you are on a date and looking for somewhere dark and quiet (almost like an abandoned alley....)

but maybe wander down the strip if you feel like drinking something strong or meeting people.

all and all, it was a gingerfab night, despite the heat, but i don't know if any of these places will become a gingerfoxxx stomping ground.
heard of anywhere new and fabulous opening up?

xoxo.
